Evan wearing Bryn's leg warmers during our potty training weekend! haha!
We have failed 2 times with Evan...pacifier weaning and potty training. We tried briefly to take the paci away from Evan and it was an awful experience, so we ultimately decided to wait a little longer (per the suggestion of some friends).
And we were excited to potty train Evan and get him out of diapers this weekend. We did the same bare-bottom approach to training as we did with Eli because we had so much luck with him. I figured that Eli was trained at this exact age (right before he turned 2), so I was confident that this program would work for Evan. Wow, was I wrong. It was a disaster of an attempt and after 2 days of training, we decided Evan is not ready yet. This weekend really made me realize the difference in our boys too. Eli has always been a people pleaser and perfectionist and has always been very mature for his age (good qualities, but also causes some frustration too). He was eager to be a "big boy" and was excited to wear undies and use the potty. He caught on after only 1 day and was trained pretty much after our boot camp weekend. Evan, on the other hand, is more of a nonconformist and free spirit. He could care less about the potty and being a big boy. He is totally fine with being a baby still! When I brought him to buy big kid undies, he really didn't get a hoot. During our attempt to train him, Evan would pee all over the place and would point out the mess but make no effort to sit on the potty. He even would poop standing up and didn't think anything of it! He would get mad when we put him on the potty. He wasn't making any progress at all and our potty training weekend was a huge frustration, so we will try again in a couple months. Despite the disappointment, I can't help but smile thinking of it. Evan is such a fun little guy right now and makes us laugh all the time. This weekend was no different!
