Weekend Getaway

Cory and I spent the weekend in Chicago for a friend's wedding (Cory's fraternity brother) and the boys spent the weekend with Grandma and Grandpa Showalter.    We went to Goshen Thursday night to drop off the boys and headed out early Friday morning for a long weekend in Chi town! We took the South Shore train to Chicago from South Bend and was in the big city early Friday, so we had over 2 full days together sans children.  Although the weather was crummy all weekend, we still had a great time.  We walked miles and miles around downtown Chicago and ate meals out, shopped and visited the Art museum. Saturday night was the wedding and it was hands down the fanciest, most formal wedding we have ever been to and will probably ever attend in the future!  It was incredibly beautiful and we felt like we were attending a celebrity wedding.

Eli and Evan had a blast with Grandma and Grandpa..and Steve the dog!  They did all kinds of fun stuff, including going to a nearby apple orchard/pumpkin patch, going to a play area (sorry, not sure of the official name of that), out to dinner, they visited Granny and saw Cory's aunt Pam, went to church on Sunday and of course played a lot at their home with lots of fun toys.  Both boys, especially Evan, were obsessed with Steve the Golden retriever.  That poor dog must have been exhausted by the end of the weekend.  Eli and Evan did great and enjoyed their time with their grandparents.  Thank you, Paula and Jeff, for watching them and letting us have a nice weekend getaway!
