Colorado Trip
This post is a little delayed.. darn it. In mid-Sept I spent 4 days in Denver CO with my sister Mandi. It was so nice to get a break from my normal routine, get out of town and of course get the opportunity to see my sister! We chose this destination a couple months ago because it was somewhere we have never been yet wanted to see. We specifically chose CO because we were wanting to spend time at the Rocky Mtn National Park hiking in the beautiful mountains and doing outdoor things. However, the timing of our visit couldn't have been worse!! The area was hit by horrific rain, causing devastating floods resulting in the entire area, including the park, to be shut down. We couldn't visit anywhere we had wanted to visit and were stuck in Denver. If you have ever been to Denver, unfortunately it is nothing really special. You can't even see any mountains..boo! It rained almost our entire 4 day visit, so Mandi and I spent a lot of time googling "things to do indoors in Denver", which was such a bummer. The moments of sun we did have, we tried to enjoy by getting outside. We spent a lot of time eating at restaurants (some were wonderful), shopping, we visited a botanical garden, went to a spa and actually visited a wild life sanctuary. That was pretty cool! They had lions, bears, tigers, etc that were permanently living at this sanctuary and being taken care of by the staff (most had come from circuses, zoos and even some were pets)! So, although the trip was not at all what we had in mind, we were both thankful to have had the opportunity. Also, thank you to Cory and his parents for watching the kids while I was gone! It made me going out of town feel a lot less guilty and worrisome knowing they were in good hands and having a great time.
